‘And now, David Woodings’
12th September - 5th October
Photorealist painter David Woodings mines the glow of coin-operated machines, arcade games, and carousel horses to create sharp, uncanny narratives about the human condition.
Alongside these, his ‘Silks’ series revisits the fragile beauty of hand-stitched greeting cards from World War I, marking the centenary of the Somme.
Borrowing its name from a newsreader’s segue — “and now this” — the show pivots between eras and subjects, inviting viewers to consider the jarring, often dissonant juxtapositions that shape how we see the world.
“And now…….this’ is commonly used on radio and television newscasts to indicate what one has just heard or seen has no relevance to what one is about to hear or see.
